The first problem was introduced by Barcilon in 1974 and consists in the recovery of the differential operator coefficients from three spectra. The second problem was introduced by McLaughlin in 1982 and consists in the recovery of the operator from the spectrum and the two sets of weight numbers. Alghough these problems started to be investigated in 1970-1980, there were no rigorous uniqueness results for them.
